Latin Patriarch begins Christmas procession to Bethlehem

Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Michael Sabah left the Patriachate in Jerusalem's Old City Monday at the start of the traditional procession to Bethlehem, ushering in the Holy Land's Christmas celebrations.
Jerusalem (dpa) - Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Michael Sabah left the Patriachate in Jerusalem's Old City Monday at the start of the traditional procession to Bethlehem, ushering in the Holy Land's Christmas celebrations.

Sabah's convoy was proceeding to the outskirts of Bethlehem, from where the patriarch and his entourage will proceed to th3e traditional birthplace of Jesus Christ.

Palestinians report that tourists have already begun arriving in Bethlehem in advance of midnight mass, and hotels in the city are full.
