Napster, the Internet music download database and phone company Ericsson are to set up a joint venture.

The idea is to release a phone that can store and play a large number of MP3's by using Napsters database of songs and making them availiable to download onto the phone

The president of Napster predicts that 70 million of these new phones will be bought, out-selling digital music players such as the iPod.

The venture is set to benefit both phone companies and Napster. By using the Napster brand, Ericsson can promote the use of Internet on phones.
