The 41 hour seige at Risdon Prison in Tasmania has ended peacefully. The order of 15 pizzas were a bargining chip to the inmates involved in the seige. The protest was about issues that needed resolving in the prison. The seige ended when all 24 issues were agreed to and the pizzas delivered.
A warder and a number of inmates were held captive against their will. Substatial damage is said to have been caused to the reception area, where the seige was held. A forensic examination of the scene is underway and the prison will remain locked down today.
